Welcome to the home page of The Finnish Vasculitis Association!

The Finnish Vasculitis Association is a registered patient association whose purpose is to support vasculitis patients and their loved ones in all of Finland. We offer reliable information and peer support. We organize events, such as expert lectures and patient meetings, so that no one needs to feel alone with their disease.

Vasculitides are rare but serious diseases, and recognizing and treating them requires expertise. That is why we work together with both Finnish and international experts in order to promote research and the improvement of treatment. We strive to increase awareness of vasculitis within Finnish health care and among decision-makers. We highlight the importance of faster diagnosis, and stress that it is vital for patients to be monitored by specialized medical care, even after achieving initial remission.

About us

The association was founded in 2013. We have no hired staff – all our work is done by volunteers.

The association coordinates trained peer support persons, who offer support either face to face, over the phone or by email. We also organize patient meetings in different parts of the country as well as online. Additionally, we organize an annual Vaskuliittipäivä, a so-called Vasculitis Day, which is a somewhat bigger meeting for the members of the association.

The association cooperates with other rare diseases organizations and is a member organization of the Finnish Rheumatism Association Reumaliitto, EURORDIS and Vasculitis International.
